About Ron

(aka “Blade Ronner”)

Finding your “Carousel”

One of the most iconic scenes in recent television history reveals the spirit of how I approach my work. It’s the season one finale of Mad Men where Don Draper is pitching to win Kodak’s business, and he’s using their projector, which they have given the inconvenient name “The Wheel.”

Doing what he does best, he recounts a story that ties in the etymology of the word “nostalgia.” As the photos cycle through his own complicated life, he strikes an emotional chord with both the audience in the room and the millions of viewers watching at home.

He doesn’t sell “The Wheel,” a cold, mechanical device that performs a rote function. Instead, he sells “The Carousel” and that feeling of “going home.” He taps into the emotional truth of what is ostensibly a dispassionate light emitter.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Don Draper. Nobody is. (Although it is worth noting that when I used to dance on a Lindy Hop swing dance troupe, my nickname was “Don Ron.” But I digress.) But finding that emotional truth within something the world has decided is technical, forgettable, or unremarkable, and making people feel something they didn’t expect is where I excel, and it’s how I’ve approached content creation and brand marketing for twenty-plus years.

What I’m Not

I'm not an agency that will assign you an account manager you'll never meet and a team you'll never see. I'm not a content farm that sells you forty blog posts a month.

I'm a senior content leader who builds media divisions, embedded in your business, with a crew behind him.

The Role I Play

Simply put, I act as your senior-level content marketing lead. In this fractional role, I help you develop and execute a distributed content marketing strategy. You get the benefit of not only my experience, but the “rolodex” of talent I’ve developed over two decades.

Which is a nice segue to…

The Collective

I don't do all of this alone, and you should be suspicious of anyone who says they do.

Behind me is a vetted group of filmmakers, editors, writers, photographers, designers, and audio producers I've hired, directed, and trusted for years. They are the same specialists you would eventually have to find, vet, negotiate with, and manage yourself if you built this in-house¹.

What Replicant Content gives you is that the finding, vetting, and managing is already done. The team is assembled and it's good, so you start producing now rather than in Q3. And you write one check, to one vendor, with one person on the hook for whether the work is any good.

¹ In some situations, I (or one of my usual freelancers) can and will perform various duties that will be included in your retainer, e.g. blog and social media writing, podcast producing, and video production. The specifics of what will and won’t be included will be worked out when we determine the scope of work.

Investment + Availability

Engagements start at $7,500 per month—but will likely range from $9,000 to $10,000 for most traditional scopes. This is less than a Director of Content costs you fully loaded, and considerably less than what you'll spend building the same thing badly over eighteen months.

Availability is limited to three spots for the Replicant Content treatment. Contact me or book a meeting to find out about current availability.
