Imagination: unlimited

I remember it vividly…

I was hanging out with my best friend, and we were getting into one of our patented debates about whether Star Wars is sci-fi or fantasy (it’s fantasy), or the validity of Tarantino’s excessive “borrowing” from 19070s Asian cinema. My buddy was a fellow filmmaker and cinephile who knew that filmmaking was a passion of mine as well. At the time, I was a Business Development Manager at Intuit.

He turns to me and asks, “So, Ron. What do you want to do with your life?” I replied, “Well, eventually I would love to become a director and make my own movie,” to which he replied, “Cool, cool. So how are you going to do that at Intuit?”

It was an eye-opening experience that changed the direction of my life. A few months later, I quit my job and started my video agency. The rest, as they say, is history.

Birth of a brand storyteller

I’ve come a long way in that time and have had the opportunity to shoot and produce video campaigns for the likes of Apple, Adobe, Nielsen, and my old employer Intuit.

In these later years of my video career, I’ve been more passionate about being a brand storyteller and executive producer. Rather than being on set and directing, I found a passion for working with brands to develop groundbreaking, cutting-edge films and series that build affinity or drive pipeline.

In my role as executive producer or showrunner, I’ve leveraged the strong network of talented filmmakers I’ve built over the years, along with my experience as a brand marketer, to craft films and documentaries that push the boundaries of what’s possible in corporate video storytelling.

Featured Film

One of the most rewarding experiences I had conceiving and producing a film series was telling the story of digital marketing entrepreneur and expert Rand Fishkin. Originally planned to be one of the stories in season 3 of the HubSpot/LinkedIn series I produced, Spiraling Up, we pivoted, making it an autonomous bonus edition. This is an inspiring founder story where Rand gets vulnerable and tells a counter-narrative to the “journey to become a unicorn” theme of the main series.
